Students have waited long enough for the syllabus of GATE 2022 to be out ever since the pandemic ruined the previous years for all the pending competitive examinations. IIT Kharagpur, the organising community for this exam, has finally released the GATE syllabus for this session, and aspirants are totally relieved! 

No More Referring to the Old Syllabus! 

With the syllabus in hand, you can start preparing with a plan. You won’t have to refer to previous years’ syllabus and proceed ahead with the new one. And although, remember that no changes have been made to the previous syllabus of the GATE Exam. But two new syllabi have been added, namely Geomatics Engineering (GE) Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM). 

Apart from this, all 29 papers have a common mandatory section of General Aptitude (GA). It comprises about 15% of the total weightage of the question papers. The rest of the syllabus varies a lot on the basis of what paper you choose. 

Points to Ponder 

  • Two more syllabi have been added for GATE aspirants. 
  • The GATE syllabus was revised last year to introduce a new eligibility criterion allowing those students to sit in the exam who are appearing for their third year in graduation. 
  • You can check out the previous years’ question papers, as the exam pattern is all-in-all the same. 
  • You can check the syllabus in the official notification released by IIT Kharagpur for the next session, i.e., 2022.
